Our Process for Remodeling & Renovating Stained Glass
Stained glass remodeling & renovation is a very time and skill intensive process. Because stained glass is often in a fragile stage by the time it has reached a point when restoration is necessary, it needs to be handled with an expert level of care. That’s why we use the following practiced method on all of our stained glass restoration projects:
Removal: The stained glass is carefully removed from the building and brought to our studio.
Cleaning: Next, the panel is soaked in a bath of gentle cleaners for up to two weeks in order to remove dirt and restore its natural color and shine.
Disassembly: The panel is taken apart piece by piece.
Replacement: Broken pieces of glass are replaced using our personal collection.
Reassembly: The panel is put back together securely with new leading and cementing.
Completion: Finally, the stained glass panel is returned to the original site. A piece of safety glass is installed over the top for protection. The project is complete!
