The Rising Church Stained Glass Restoration

The Rising Church Stained Glass Restoration

We’re pleased to announce the recent completion of our church stained glass restoration project at The Rising Church. This church was built in 1913 in Arvada, CO, and is known for all of its amazing homeless outreach. On an evening after the church had closed, someone walking by had thought they heard a commotion inside. They decided to throw rocks through the stained glass windows in order to stop it. Luckily, there wasn’t anyone inside but the damaged windows were the result.

Our Church Stained Glass Restoration Process for The Rising Church

These original stained glass windows required full restoration and were transported back to our studio. From there, we disassembled them and replaced all damaged glass pieces from either our inventory or custom manufacturing. We ensured a perfect 100% color match this way and kept as much of the original hand-painted glass by using an invisible glass mending technique. All the lead was replaced and black cement was forced into the cracks to create optimal strength. One of the major challenges with this project was that many of the windows were missing their exterior lead frame because they were intentionally removed to fit the building. The windows were resized and some were shaved down on-site in order to create a perfect fit. New polycarbonate with custom ventilation was then created for exterior protection along with freshly painted exterior frames.
