Scottish stained glass family crests are handmade and individually custom designed to incorporate the original design plus your own colors in the areas surrounding the main design such as the background and borders. This allows you to stick with tradition but also coordinate with your homes interior decor. As you can see from the photos, we often design family crests as octagonal shapes sized to be approximately 24″x24″. However, since
all Scottish Stained Glass hanging panels are created individually, this allows our clients the opportunity to customize the
shape, size and colors of your stained glass family crest.
I Scotland, allegiance to a specific clan is shown by wearing a clan badge. These badges are also sometimes known as crest badges, and although these are not the full family crest which often involves the clan shield and helmet, the clan badge is the most recognizable symbol of the clan. Crest badges consist of a crest, motto, and slogan. In addition, they may incorporate elements from the clan chief’s coat of arms. For example, the Wallace clan crest is an
image of a dexter arm clad in armour with a sword. It is also adorned with a motto which
reads “for liberty”. These clan badges are the basis of our clan crest panels, paying
homage to our Scottish roots, as well as our client’s.
